US releases Epstein files with accusations against Trump

The files show interviews conducted by the FBI in 2019 with a South Carolina woman who said she was a victim of sexual abuse by Epstein. In the reports, she also claimed to have been allegedly abused by Trump in the 1980s, when she was between 13 and 15 years old. The interviews describe the allegations in some detail, however, the files show that FBI agents had no further contact with the alleged victim after these interviews.

According to records, the woman contacted federal authorities shortly after Epstein’s arrest in 2019. The FBI conducted four interviews with her that year. According to the memos now made public, the complainant stated that she was introduced to Trump by Epstein and that she was taken to New York or New Jersey, where the alleged abuses took place. There is, however, no information in the documents about any formal accusation arising from these statements.

The Department of Justice stated, in a publication on the X network, that it identified 15 documents that had been “incorrectly classified as duplicates”. The ministry also reported that it reviewed the material to “protect personally identifiable information and images of a sexual nature”, and that other files on the website where it stores material from the case were temporarily taken offline for further review.

To date, no evidence has publicly emerged to corroborate such accusations against Trump. In a statement, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt classified the accusations against the American president as “completely unfounded” and “without any credible evidence”. She further stated that the Department of Justice, under the administration of Democrat Joe Biden, was aware of the allegations for four years and did not file formal charges, “because they knew that President Trump did absolutely nothing wrong.”

Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
