Rubio denounces that Iran is trying to “take the world hostage” with “terrorist” attacks against neighboring countries

The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, denounced this Monday that Iran is trying to “take the world hostage” with “terrorist” attacks against neighboring countries, which include energy infrastructure, embassies and civilian populations.

“We are all seeing right now the threat that this clerical regime represents for the region and for the world. They are trying to hold the world hostage. They are attacking their neighbors, their energy infrastructure and their civilian population. They are attacking Embassies. This is terrorism,” denounced the head of US diplomacy at a flag-raising event in commemoration of Hostages and Unjustly Detained Day in Washington.

In this ceremony, Rubio thus criticized Iran for using elements typical of a State to commit “terrorism”, specifically pointing out the use of single-use attack missiles and drones. In this sense, he stressed that the objective of the US mission in Iran is “to destroy the ability to continue doing that.”

In his opinion, the objectives of the military operation in Iran “are clear” and the United States is on the right track to achieve them. The goal is to “destroy Iran’s missile launch capabilities”; “both by destroying their missiles and their launchers, and by destroying the factories that produce those missiles, and by destroying their Navy.”

The Secretary of State has thus defended the “work” being carried out by the US Army. “Every day, this regime in Iran has fewer missiles, fewer launchers, its factories produce less and its Navy is being devastated,” he added to emphasize that the world “will be a safer and better place when this mission is completed.”
