IAEA chief: almost half of Iran’s enriched uranium is in Isfahan

Nearly half of Iran’s stockpile of uranium enriched to 60%, close enough to weapons-grade levels, was stored in an underground complex in Isfahan, and is likely still there. This was stated by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi.

According to him, Isfahan is the only Iranian nuclear facility that escaped significant damage during the June American-Israeli strike. Last month, the IAEA confirmed that there were significant reserves of enriched uranium there.

According to the agency, before the 12-day war, Iran had 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%. With further enrichment, this was enough to create 10 nuclear devices.

“At our last inspection in Esfahan there were 200 kilograms of enriched uranium, maybe a little more. We believe the material is still there,” he said.

Let us recall that after the end of the 12-day war, US President Donald Trump announced the destruction of the Iranian nuclear program. However, these statements turned out to be too optimistic.
