Driving drunk after the concert: HDZ demands the resignation of the deputy mayor of Koprivnica

On Tuesday, the HDZ of Koprivni County requested the resignation of the deputy mayor Ksenija Ostri. after information about driving under the influence of alcohol, and she subsequently apologized to the public and reported that this morning at the Misdemeanor Court, she was given a suspended fine, which she paid. After a roll call from the HDZ, which points out that such behavior of the deputy mayor of Koprivnica, MIšel Jakši (SDP), represents a serious violation of the law and seriously undermines the trust of citizens in the persons who hold the highest executive positions in the city, Ostriž addressed the public with an announcement.

She apologized for, as she stated, the wrong decision she made on November 29 last year when, after the Zdravka Čolić’s concert, she recklessly got behind the wheel after drinking several shots of Muscat.

She explains that on her way back home at 0.30 a.m., she was stopped by a routine police traffic control and was found guilty of a misdemeanor for having a blood alcohol level of 0.9 per thousand. She emphasized that there is no justification for sitting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol, and stated that it was her first traffic violation in her life.

“Today I responded to the Misdemeanor Court, where a fine was imposed on me, which I paid. I would like to apologize once again to all my fellow citizens, both personally, but also as a deputy citizen”, stated Ostri, who is the deputy acts as a neutral person.

Koprivni’s co-critic of the HDZ called Ostriž to resign because it is in the interest of the public, transparency and political responsibility.

They expressed concern over, as they state, the lack of timely and transparent information about the case to the public, and they requested the reaction of the mayor Mišel Jakša and his statement on the political responsibility of the deputy mayor.

They added that the citizens of Koprivnica have the right to responsible leadership and a clear message that the same rules apply to everyone.
