Fire destroys historic half-timbered house – 21 people homeless

Pleidelsheim – Devastating major fire in Pleidelsheim (Baden-Württemberg): A historic half-timbered house from the 17th century was completely destroyed there on Sunday – and 21 people lost their homes, including two families with small children. The city is now starting a fundraising campaign for the victims.

The residents have lost everything. Both houses – the listed building and the adjacent one – can no longer be lived in. The appeal for donations says: “Within a few hours they lost their home, their personal memories and many of the things that make up a life.” Several businessmen are facing ruin. The donations are intended to help those affected quickly and unbureaucratically.

Fire broke out in the attic

The fire broke out in the roof structure on Sunday. It quickly spread to the neighboring half-timbered house. Six people suffered minor injuries. The material damage: at least 1.5 million euros.
