The Ministry of Defense denies the rumors about deploying a new Azerbaijani position in Armenia

Press secretary of the Ministry of Defense Aram Torosyan notes that all this is documented by satellite photos.

Arman Tatoyan, former MP, head of the “Wings of Unity” initiative, which applied for participation in the parliamentary elections, announced the other day that the Azerbaijani troops have strengthened in the territories of Armenia and advanced in some places. He supported what he said with satellite photos. On the same day, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan responded sharply and very briefly to Arman Tatoyan in the parliament, stating that it was a lie.

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, the connection of Google Earth space photos with reality has deviations, and the border line has no legal basis. He noted that the Ministry of Defense is guided by topographical maps of the USSR of 1975. “It has legal force and was approved by the head of the Transcaucasian Regional Inspection of the State Geodetic Control.”

Torosyan added that the position of Azerbaijan on the map of the USSR does not cross the RA state border and is located in the territory of Azerbaijan

Today “Wings of Unity” carried out an action at the Ministry of Defense, presenting photos and documents regarding the above.

Along with these mutual accusations of the Minister of Defense and the members of the “Unity Wings” political initiative, “Civilnet” and “Factor TV” checked Arman Tatoyan’s statements and found out that in the summer the Azerbaijanis built a new position in the Sotk sector, “a part of which is in the sovereign territory of Armenia”.
