Vechta – Crossing crash in Lower Saxony: In Vechta on Saturday, a paramedic (44) drove through a red light with flashing lights and a siren – and collided with the car of a 65-year-old. The car was thrown against the car of a 56-year-old.
Reason for the blue lights: an emergency transfer. There was another paramedic, an emergency doctor, an infant and its mother on board the emergency vehicle.
The man had driven into the intersection when it was green – and was no longer able to avoid it. The driver of the ambulance and the 56-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene of the accident. All three vehicles were no longer drivable. The police are now investigating the paramedic for negligent bodily harm.
