There is no peace on the Ford aircraft carrier, 600 sailors without beds

It will also be the last cry of the aircraft carrier and class president of the future sisters who will replace those in service. Finding yourself without a cot at the end of the day, with services that often break down and spread sewage in a sea infested with pirates and a thousand dangers, more or less the situation of the rowers on the galleys (or galleys) chained to the oars and forced to never leave their place: something similar happens on board the USS Gerald Ford.

The misadventure

The last trouble was thefire in the main laundry room, happened last week. The US Navy said the fire had caused two minor injuries and had not compromised the ship’s operations. But to put out the fire, apparently triggered by the malfunction of a dryerit took 30 ore. The result is that 600 of the 4,500 crew members were left without beds. Forced to sleep wherever they happen or, more likely, alternating with their comrades.

The stop in Crete

Soon after entering the Mediterranean, the Ford had had to stop in Crete for a urgent repair: circa 650 toilets were out of order, with sewage leaks. The repair cost over $400,000 and wasn’t the first. It appears that a mistake was made in the design of the toilet scheme. And the ship should have returned to the shipyard for ‘refurbishments’ and also for the update which would have given a definitive solution to the toilet problem. The order to continue the mission first in the Mediterranean, then in support of the war against Iran, extended the mission which will be a year old in April: double the normal duration. And during missions, ships and crews get worn out and tired.
