Qatar and Saudi Arabia evacuate energy facilities for fear of an Iranian response

Earlier, a senior military official in Tehran said that “hitting the Aslawiya gas field is a war crime that will not go unanswered”, and clarified that Iran will act against the enemy’s infrastructure. At the same time, Iran issued warnings for possible attacks on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The Israeli attack caused concern in Qatar, given the fact that the country shares the gas field with Iran. The spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry said that hitting the Fars field – which also extends to the northern gas field in Qatar – is a “dangerous step”. According to him, damage to energy infrastructures is a threat to global energy security and the countries of the region and the surrounding area.

The United Arab Emirates also issued a condemnation of the attack on the gas facility in Iran: “The damage to energy facilities in Iran’s southern Fars gas field is a threat to global energy security.”
