Iran: the director of US intelligence excludes the nuclear threat but does not declare it in the Chamber

The Enrichment Program nuclear of Iran? In the statement with which he opened his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee,Tulsi Gabbardhe did not cite a written passage that would have contradicted the presidentDonald Trumpon the reasons forwar all’iran. In the text there was a passage that said: “As a result of theOperation Midnight Hammer(the one from June last year, ed.), theIran’s nuclear enrichment programit was destroyed. Since then there have been no attempts to rebuild their enrichment capacity. The entrances to the bombed underground facilities were buried and sealed with concrete.”

Gabbard’s testimony in the courtroom

But Gabbard skipped that step in her oral argument. It was the Democratic senatorMark Warnerto note the discrepancy between the text delivered to the commission and the one then read by itdirector of American intelligence. Warner asked her if it was “because the president said there was aimminent threat”.

Gabbard replied: “I realized I was running out of time and I skipped some parts, including the one she chose.” Warner did not seem convinced by the answer and recalled that that passage would have contradicted theofficial positionwith which Trump motivated the start of theconflict in the Middle East.

“Iran can rearm and produce an intercontinental ballistic missile”

La American intelligence director Tulsi Gabbardis convinced that theIranhas the means to rearm and produce “by2035” un intercontinental ballistic missile. During hishearing in the SenateGabbard, however, added that everything will depend on the results of theOperation Epic Furyconducted byUnited Statesagainst Iran.

Democratic Senator Wyden’s thesis

During thehearing in the Senate Intelligence Committeethe DemocratRon Wydenhe urgedTulsi Gabbardon those he defined“foreseeable” and “anticipated” consequences di un attack on Iran.

Wyden cited theevaluation of intelligence agenciesof which Gabbard is the head, according to which theIranhe was capable of inflictingdamage to the attackerscondurre attacks in the regionand stop thetraffic along the Strait of Hormuz. “Every problem we are seeing now was not only foreseeable, but was foreseen byintelligence agencies,” the senator said.

Gabbard: “Trump was informed of all the risks of the attack”

Gabbard confirmed theintelligence conclusions: “We continued to deliver to the president and his teaminformation relating to this operation in IranWyden asked if it was expected that theIranwould attack theUS forces. “We have always taken it very seriouslythreat posed by the Iranian regime’s missile capabilitiesand the risk that oursAmerican soldierscould be put in danger,” Gabbard responded.

At this point the senator cited the comment ofTrumpaccording to which “no expert had considered possible aIranian attack against partners in the Gulf StatesTrump had been informed byintelligencethat there was a risk instead?, asked Wyden. “Thereintelligence community– Gabbard replied – continued to evaluate thepotential threats to the regionle existing threats in the regionand to provide suchevaluations to political leaders e a chi decide”.
