Kremlin: Peace talks on Ukraine are in a “temporary pause”

The Kremlin said on Thursday: “The tripartite peace talks on Ukraine with the United States have entered a temporary pause.” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that Russia hopes that this pause will end and that a new round of negotiations will be held. The Russian newspaper “Izvestia” reported earlier, citing Russian officials, that peace talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine are temporarily halted in light of the American-Israeli war on Iran. The Iran war distracted the United States from Ukraine and led to higher oil and gas prices. The newspaper reported that the Kremlin confirmed the temporary pause, and indicated that the war in Iran may push Kiev towards reaching an agreement.
