Trump: The US is considering a “gradual reduction” in operations against Iran

“We are very close to meeting our goals as we consider phasing out our great military effort in the Middle East against the terrorist regime of Iran,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social social network.

Speaking at the Strait of Hormuz, a sea passage blocked by Iran through which a significant share of the world’s energy trade passes, Trump said that the safety of navigation there would have to be ensured by other countries.

“The Strait of Hormuz will have to be monitored and controlled, if necessary, by other countries that use it – which is not the case with the United States!”, wrote the American president.

Trump added that the US will help those countries if they ask for it, but asserted that “it will not be necessary once the Iranian threat is eradicated.”

– We are very close to achieving our goals as we consider phasing out our major military efforts in the Middle East against the terrorist regime of Iran: (1) completely disabling Iran’s missile capabilities, launchers and everything associated with them; (2) destroying Iran’s defense industrial base; (3) elimination of their navy and air force, including anti-aircraft weapons; (4) never allow Iran to even come close to nuclear capabilities and always be in a position that the US can react quickly and forcefully to such a situation, if it comes to that; (5) protection, at the highest level, of our Middle Eastern allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and others. The Strait of Hormuz will have to, as necessary, be guarded and monitored by other countries that use it — not the United States! If requested, we will assist those countries in their efforts in the Strait of Hormuz, but this should not be necessary once the Iranian threat is removed.
