Minister Šušnjar: ‘We are canceling petrol tourism, and distributors had record sales yesterday’

“Today we brought a package of measures to alleviate price pressure, primarily for Eurodiesel, the price of which will rise from the current 1.55 euros to 1.73 euros. Without the government’s measures, it would have gone to 1.86 euros, which would be a jump of 31 eurocents, and because of the government’s measures, it will increase by 18 eurocents,” said Šušnjar.

He added that the government influenced this price by reducing the premium of energy entities by five cents and the excise tax by six cents.

In connection with Eurosuper, the price is now 1.50 euros, without the Government’s measures, a liter of that fuel would cost 1.71 euros, and with the Government’s measures, it would be 1.62 euros. This, he pointed out, means that the Government intervened with two cents in the premium of energy entities and six euro cents in excise duties, which belong to the state.

By deregulating prices on highways against gasoline tourism

“Today we brought an important measure to deregulate the formation of prices on highways. Certain distributors during yesterday recorded record sales, in the millions of liters, and certain neighboring countries called for the filling of fuel in Croatia. First of all, we have to take into account the security of supply to our market, and that’s why we brought a measure to the price on the highways is being deregulated,” emphasized Šušnjar.

He emphasized that the security of supply is not in question at any time. He claims that there are no disruptions in the supply and supply of oil for processing and emphasizes that a modernized refinery is operating in Croatia.

Regarding electricity, the measures that have been valid until now will continue, they have been extended for six months, the same as for gas, said the minister.

“Prices for citizens and small businesses remain the same, they have been extended within those frameworks in which these prices are subsidized by the state,” he emphasized.

When asked if we will have a full gas storage in Okoli on September 1, he replied that there will be enough gas and that the security of gas supply will not be called into question either.

He repeated that certain measures were adopted today to help to small fuel distributors, adding that today, apart from INA, no one sells blue diesel. There is no information that there is a fuel shortage at some gas stations in Croatia.

He added, however, that there is a certain pressure so that one distributor sold over five million liters of derivatives yesterday, which is a record sale.

“We decided that we have to deregulate fuel prices on the highways in order to dissuade people from the so-called gasoline tourism,” Šušnjar pointed out. He emphasized that the distributors have limited the sale of blue elevator to farmers and fishermen, saying that there is no need for irrational purchases of energy products and that stocks are created irrationally.

When asked why Ina is the only one that agrees to sell blue diesel and thus be obviously in the red, he said that Ina has its own refinery, and that it is possible to position itself on the market differently than others.
