Iran carried out missile attacks in Kurdistan: the European Union condemns and warns

According to the statement, published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, the Iranian attacks led to the death and wounding of dozens of Peshmerga fighters, the armed forces of the autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq. The Emirati Foreign Ministry did not mince words and emphasized that these actions on the part of Tehran constitute a “dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the principles of international law.”

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full support for all measures that will be taken in order to maintain security, ensure the safety of the citizens in the region and preserve regional stability, which is extremely unstable. At the end of the message, sincere condolences and deep sympathy were expressed to the families of the dead (“the saints”, in the original), to the government and to the citizens of Iraq and Kurdistan for this “heinous attack”, along with wishes for a speedy recovery to all the injured.

Just at the beginning of this month, under the cover of the regional chaos, the consulate of the United Arab Emirates in the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish region, was attacked twice in a week by unmanned aerial vehicles. These events caused damage to buildings and led to the injury of security personnel, and drew strong condemnations and calls for an international investigation from Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
