Hamas accuses Gaza Peace Board of “favoring Israel’s agenda” and ignoring its ceasefire violations

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has accused this Wednesday the executive director of the Gaza Peace Board, Nickolai Mladenov, of “favoring the occupation agenda”, after he considered the first phase of the plan for the Gaza Strip “practically completed” despite the fact that nearly 700 Palestinians have died due to Israeli attacks since the ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025.

“Mladenov tried to change the course of events to favor the occupation’s agenda, especially because he completely ignored that the occupation did not fulfill its obligations in the first phase and did not offer real guarantees for the fulfillment of any future commitments,” said Hamas spokesman Basem Naim, alluding to the Bulgarian diplomat’s appearance on Tuesday before the United Nations Security Council.

In particular, the spokesman for the Palestinian militia criticized Mladenov for having spoken “about violations of the ceasefire without mentioning who violates the agreement, that is, Israel.” “Mladenov threatens our people with a return to war in the name of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and his government, despite being an envoy of ‘peace’,” he declared in a statement released through the newspaper ‘Filastín’, linked to Hamas.

Naim has regretted that Mladenov “completely ignores the details of the magnitude of the violations, among which the death of more than 750 Palestinians since the entry into force of the agreement and the 1,800 injuries stand out, as well as the prohibition of the entry of reconstruction materials, the non-compliance with the agreement on the opening of the Rafah crossing and the elimination of the ‘yellow line'”, the demarcation to which the Israeli military had withdrawn under the agreement reached on 10 October.

Thus, he has considered that the executive director of the Peace Board for Gaza “tried to appear more monarchical than the king himself” during his speech before the UN Security Council, and has denounced that he “tried to link everything with the issue of weapons, including (…), the Israeli withdrawal and the reconstruction” of the Palestinian enclave.

This conditionality of the following stages of the disarmament of Hamas, he indicated, is “against the Sharm el Sheikh agreement and Security Council resolution 2028, and even (US President Donald) Trump’s own plan.”

“This scenario has been repeated for decades by all international envoys, who seek to promote their own interests at the expense of our people and their legitimate rights, and ingratiate themselves with Americans and Israelis,” he stated in a note in which he rejected “actions (that) have only caused disasters and have emboldened the Israelis to persist in their brutality and fascism, without providing security or stability to anyone in the region.”

The day before, Nickolai Mladenov considered the first phase of the plan for Gaza “practically completed”, in a speech in which he reiterated that “reconstruction can only be carried out once the disarmament phases have been certified.” “The reality of the last 20 years demonstrates that verified disarmament and responsible Palestinian governance does not compromise security,” he asserted.
