Hackers affiliated with Iran: We hacked the email of the head of the FBI

The group of hackers associated with Iran – Khandala, claims to have hacked into the personal email account of the head of the FBI, Kash Patel. The group’s public announcement, which was distributed today (Friday), allegedly included pictures of Patel and what was claimed to be his professional resume.

A US Justice Department official confirmed to Reuters that Patel’s email account had indeed been hacked. The source also claimed that the distributed materials appear to be authentic. The FBI has not yet responded to a request for an official response on the matter.

“Patel will now find his name on the list of successfully hacked victims,” ​​the hacker group’s website says. The Reuters news agency examined a sample of the materials uploaded to the network, which show a combination of personal and professional correspondence dating from 2010 to 2019. However, the news agency noted that it was not possible to immediately verify the authenticity of the published emails.

The current event joins a series of previous publications by Khandala in recent months, in which the group claimed hacking into the devices of senior Israeli officials, including the device of Tzachi Braverman, the chief of staff in the Prime Minister’s Office, and even published materials that it said were extracted from the device. The Prime Minister’s office said at the time that the matter was under investigation, and that at the first stage it was not found that the phone had been hacked.

Even earlier, Khandela also managed to break into the personal Telegram account of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. The group claimed that as part of that hacking, various materials from the device were distributed, but Bennett’s office denied that the phone itself was hacked, and later stated that only his Telegram account was accessed. Even then, security officials warned against opening files that are distributed online, for fear of damage.
