Hundreds of teenagers were rioting and fighting in downtown Chicago

A group of hundreds of teenagers gathered to fight, causing chaos in central Chicago, forcing the police to disperse and arrest 8 people.

American media reported on March 26 that these teenagers gathered around the State and Lake intersection in downtown Chicago on the evening of March 25. Many people climbed onto vehicles, rushed into fights, causing chaos everywhere, despite the presence of several police patrol cars.

“We saw 200-300 kids running back and forth, fighting and provoking the police,” said witness Justin Peters, who said he assisted a boy who was knocked unconscious on the sidewalk.

Several other witnesses said a series of fights also took place in downtown Chicago, including a fight in a train station and a looting incident at a convenience store.

City official Brian Hopkins said the situation escalated very quickly, beyond the control of officers at the scene, forcing officials to issue a curfew around 10 p.m.

Chicago police then increased their force, dispersed the crowd in about 40 minutes, arrested 8 teenagers, and recorded 24 cases of curfew violation.

According to the police, 7 teenagers aged 13-16 were accused of dangerous behavior in public places, one of whom is still wanted.

Another 16-year-old boy faces more serious charges, including three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, as well as a charge of disregard for safety. Chicago authorities have not announced the cause of this chaos and chaos.

Locals say similar incidents have appeared with greater frequency in recent months, especially in downtown Chicago.

City officials are debating amending curfew regulations to deal with the continuous incidents of teenagers gathering, some of which escalated into fights.
