Rubio provided the G7 ministers with a rare glimpse of what is going on in Tehran, and claimed that there is uncertainty about the identity of the decision makers in Iran at the moment. According to him, mediators find it difficult to contact senior Iranian officials because they avoid using their phones, fearing that they will be arrested and eliminated.

The report in “Axios” also shows that the United States is already planning “the day after”. Rubio made it clear to Washington’s allies that the United States would need them to establish an international naval task force in the Strait of Hormuz. The goal, according to the report, is to demonstrate a presence in front of the Iranians and escort ships, especially in light of Tehran’s intention to demand payment and tolls from every ship that passes through the Straits after the war. Rubio noted that the United States is awaiting clarification regarding the identity of the officials who will represent Iran in possible peace talks.
