The Al-Tawila facility in Abu Dhabi suffered significant damage from Iranian attacks

The Emirates Global Aluminum Company said today (Saturday) that the Al-Tawila facility in Abu Dhabi suffered significant damage from Iranian missile and drone attacks. They also noted that several workers were injured, but none of the injured are in life-threatening condition. The site includes a large aluminum smelting plant and an aluminum refinery.

Along with these, a target of the Powder Metallurgy Company in the Neyshabur Industrial Zone, the Shahid Shafizada Industries Company in the Alborz Industrial Zone, as well as other industrial zones including Khairabad to the east of Arak, Shamsabad to the south of Islamshahr, Nasserabad to the southwest of Islamshahr and Sagzi to the east of Isfahan was also specified. According to the publication, the plants in Mubarakah, Esfahan and Khuzestan are responsible for about 70% of Iran’s steel output, and the damage to them was presented as a move that strikes at the heart of an economic-industrial mechanism that was originally built to help Iran survive under sanctions.

The publication further claims that powder metallurgy plants, which usually produce machine components, mining equipment and special alloys, can also be used to produce precision components for guidance systems, warheads or engines based on solid fuel. In addition, it was emphasized that the large industrial areas in Iran include dozens of smaller factories and warehouses, dealing in metals, chemicals, plastics and polymers, building materials, textiles, machine assembly, bitumen, packaging, stone processing and electronic products.

According to the analysis attached to the publication, many of these facilities are defined as dual-use facilities, that is, those that serve both civilian and military needs. Thus, for example, large-scale steel production complexes are used by the construction, automotive, electrical products and plumbing industries, but at the same time they are also essential for the production of military vehicles and launch platforms.
