The authorities of Dagestan, the capital of the southern region of Russia, declared a state of emergency today. As a result of torrential rains, there are large-scale floods in the area, power outages have been recorded in the region.
In Dagestan, more than 327,000 people were left without electricity.
Emergency services have been put on high alert, efforts are being made to eliminate the consequences, assistance will be provided to the affected residents, the Makhachkala Municipality said in a statement.
Heavy rain is forecast to continue in the region until Sunday.
