Huge explosion in Iran, suspected ammunition depot was hit by a US tunnel bomb

A series of large explosions occurred in the city of Isfahan, central Iran, apparently caused by an air strike using multiple US penetrating bombs.

US President Donald Trump today posted a 31-second video recording a series of large explosions that lit up the night sky in a city, accompanied by large fires and rising columns of smoke. American leaders did not post comments, nor did they announce the time and location of the recording.

The number of consecutive explosions and many debris flying high into the air indicate that a chain explosion may have occurred.

Based on geographical and radio identification signs CNN said that the incident occurred in the city of Isfahan, capital of the province of the same name in central Iran. Wall Street Journal Quoting a US government official, the country’s military used many tunnel-penetrating bombs, each weighing nearly a ton, to attack an ammunition depot in Isfahan.

The Pentagon has not yet commented on the information.

News agency Fars News Iran later quoted Akbar Salehi, a security official at the Isfahan Governor’s Office, confirming that several military facilities in the city were targeted, but did not reveal specific locations. Local officials are clarifying the scale of damage and casualties in the incident.

The city of Isfahan is an important military center and is linked to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

President Trump on March 29 confirmed that US forces have attacked more than 13,000 targets on Iranian territory, mainly to reduce the enemy’s attack capacity. He said the US raid list in the campaign still had about 3,000 targets.

The attack took place just a few hours after President Trump threatened to “blow up and completely destroy” Iran’s power plants, oil wells, desalination plants and Khrag Island if the country does not reach an agreement with the US and immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Farzin Nadimi, a security analyst at the Washington Institute specializing in Iran and the Gulf region, commented that the combined US and Israeli campaign was very effective in causing damage to the Iranian leadership, as well as seriously reducing the capabilities of the country’s air force and navy.

However, Iran still carried out continuous retaliation against US garrison bases, as well as targets in Israel and Gulf countries, causing serious damage. This shows that Tehran still has enough capacity to cause damage, chaos and make the enemy pay a high price, while also signaling that it still has the ability to fight strongly after more than a month of fighting.

“We all understand that Iran’s main measure of success is its ability to continue to launch ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, US bases and Gulf countries. We know that they can still do that,” Nadimi said.
