The Syrian president assures that his country will remain outside the war as long as it is not the target of attacks

The transitional president of Syria, Ahmed al Shara, assured this Tuesday that his country will not participate in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has been a month since Israel and the United States launched their offensive against Iran, unless it is the target of attacks by some of the actors involved.

“Unless one of the parties attacks Syria, the country will remain outside of any conflict,” he said during an event held at the Chatham House study center in London.

His statements, made on a day in which he met with representatives of the British Government, including the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, come after Syria has recorded several attacks with drones launched from Iraq, the last one this Monday, against military installations.

Pro-Iran militias in Iraq have been attacking US-related positions in the area since the US and Israeli bombings against Iran began on February 28, which have killed more than 2,000 people in Iranian territory, including former Supreme Leader Ayala Ali Khamenei.
