12 tons of chocolate bars stolen: This is how the hunt for the Kit Kat thieves goes

Vevey (Switzerland) – A truck with more than 400,000 Kit Kats simply disappears on the way from Italy to Poland. 413,793 bars from the new F1 series are gone. And the manufacturer Nestlé is now looking.

The truck left Italy last week. He was supposed to deliver the chocolate bars in several European countries along the way. There is no trace of the truck or the goods, as Kitkat explained. “The investigation is ongoing in close collaboration with local authorities and supply chain partners.”

The stolen chocolate bars could reach the market through unofficial sales channels, Kitkat explained. But they could be tracked down via their barcode. If there was a hit on the scanner at the supermarket checkout, then “clear instructions” would be given as to how Kitkat should be informed. But there’s more!

This is how the hunt for the chocolate thieves goes

In an Instagram post from April 1st (with the disclaimer that it’s not a joke!), Nestlé presents it “Stolen Kitkat Tracker”. Customers can simply enter the serial number and the company can check whether it is a stolen chocolate.

According to Nestlé, the initially feared delivery bottlenecks before Easter should not be a cause for concern.
