Ukrainians set fire to two Russian oil facilities with drones

In the Nižnji Novgorod region, Governor Gleb Nikitin said on Telegram that 30 Ukrainian drone strikes had been repelled. Drone debris caused fires in two plants owned by the oil company Lukoil, he said. Residential buildings and a plant for the production of heat and electricity were also damaged, and power outages were also reported.

According to the first information, there were no injuries.

In the Leningrad region, which borders the city of St. Petersburg, which used to be called Leningrad, the port of Primorsk was again the target of an attack, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said on Telegram. An oil pipeline caught fire there, an incident the governor described as “harmless.” A total of 19 Ukrainian drone attacks were repelled, he said.

The Russian Ministry of Defense in Moscow announced that the anti-aircraft defense destroyed 87 Ukrainian drones over Russian targets during the night. Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian energy facilities in its defensive struggle against a large-scale invasion that has lasted more than four years, according to the dpa agency. Kiev’s goal is to reduce Moscow’s income from the sale of oil and gas. Russia finances its war economy with revenues from energy exports.

Earlier this month, Moscow imposed a new ban on gasoline exports until the end of July to maintain price stability amid tense conditions in energy markets.
