Iran: “reject the proposal for a temporary ceasefire”

The Iranian news agency IRNA reports this evening (Monday) that Iran has conveyed to Pakistan its response to the US proposal to end the war. It includes ten points, based on past experience, while postponing the ceasefire and emphasizing the need for a permanent end to the war while taking into account Iran’s considerations.

Iran’s response, according to the report, includes a series of demands. The Iranian regime has published only a few of its demands out of ten:

• A permanent end to the conflicts in the region.
• Safe passage protocol in the Strait of Hormuz.
• Rehabilitation and removal of sanctions.

US President Donald Trump commented on the Iranian proposal: “An important step, but not good enough. The war is about one thing – the nuke.”

Advisors to the president, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, with Trump’s approval, tried to reach an agreement whereby a month-long ceasefire would be announced during which the parties would discuss the 15-point agreement, quite similar to what happened in Gaza and Lebanon.

What did the US ask Iran for?

• Decommissioning the existing nuclear capabilities that have already been accumulated.
• A commitment that Iran will never compromise on obtaining nuclear weapons.
• No material will be enriched on Iranian soil.
• All the enriched material will be handed over to the IAEA in an upcoming schedule to be defined between the parties.
• Natanz, Esfahan and Purdue are decommissioned – will be destroyed.
• The Atomic Energy Agency will be exposed to all the information in the fields of Iran.
• Iran will abandon the paradigm of proxy forces.
• Stop actually funding and arming the branches in the area.
• The Strait of Hormuz will remain open, there will be a free maritime zone – and no one will block it.
• The missile project: There will be a decision later, but they will have to limit the number and range.
• Further use: only for self-defense purposes.
