Qatar warns region is very close to escalation that ‘can no longer be controlled’

Qatar warns that the region is very close to an escalation that “can no longer be controlled”.

“We have been warning since 2023 that if the escalation is not contained, we will reach a situation that cannot be controlled, and we are now very close to that point. That is why we call on all sides to find a solution, to find a way to end this war before it gets out of control,” said Majed al-Ansari, spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry.

Trump’s ultimatum, which offered Iran to agree or face widespread strikes against its energy facilities and other civilian infrastructure, will expire at midnight tonight.

“The continuation of this war in this way will only mean greater losses for the peoples of the region, for international peace and security, for the global economy and energy markets,” al-Ansari told reporters in the capital Doha.

Qatar and other US allies in the Persian Gulf region, he said, have been under constant attack by Tehran since the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28.
The Gulf countries have declared that they are not a party to the war and are focused on protecting their territory and sovereignty.
