With the burning of the Israeli and US flags: the streets of Tehran celebrated the ceasefire

Citizens in Iran reacted to the ceasefire with the USA – and went out tonight (between Tuesday and Wednesday) to celebrate in the streets. Documents from Tehran show some of those citizens burning the flags of Israel and the USA, and waving pictures of Khamenei.

“Things have changed now, America understands that Iran is a superpower,” said an Iranian woman who went out to celebrate in the streets. “If they don’t follow the agreement, we will deal with them in a different way.”

Another civilian said: “Whatever His Excellency (the Supreme Leader) says, so shall it be. We obey the Leader’s instructions. We are not one step ahead of the Supreme Leader and not one step behind him. If he sees fit, we will accept a ceasefire, and if not, we are ready to fight without limitation.”

An Iranian citizen told the cameras: “America’s paper tiger has been exposed to the eyes of the whole world. Everyone understood that America’s claims are empty of content.”

Iran’s state television presented the ceasefire as a victory for Tehran. “This is a humiliating withdrawal of Trump from his rhetoric,” it said. “Trump accepted Iran’s conditions for ending the war.”

According to the understandings between Iran and the US, the ceasefire will last for two weeks, with the parties meeting during this time for negotiation talks. The talks may start as early as this Friday in Pakistan.

In the meantime, Iran handed the US a 10-point document containing the regime’s demands. “This is not the end of the war,” Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said about the cease-fire. “Iran will agree to the end of the war only after the details of the agreement, in accordance with the principles of the 10-point plan, are finally determined.”

Iran demands, among other things, consent to uranium enrichment in its territory, receiving special status in the Strait of Hormuz – and also compensation for the damages of the attacks by the US and Israel. On the other hand, Netanyahu’s office made it clear that the US will stand up for Israel’s security interests, including the nuclear issue.
