India emerging power: event in Rome on growth, opportunities and global impacts

Particular attention will be paid to India’s international positioning and its growing role in key multilateral arenas. The comparison will also highlight the interconnections between geopolitics and economics, with reference to the new directions of global cooperation. A significant part will be dedicated to economic and industrial relations with Europe and Italy, including investment opportunities and the development of strategic partnerships. Themes related to innovation, human capital and the startup ecosystem, key elements of Indian growth, will be explored in depth. The dialogue will also include the point of view of financial institutions and companies, with concrete experiences of internationalization. Finally, the prospects for integration into global value chains and India’s role as a manufacturing and technological hub will be analysed. It will be an opportunity for discussion between institutions, the academic world and the economy to understand the global implications of the Indian transformation and the opportunities for international partners.

After the greetings of the Director of the Center for American Studies, Roberto Sgalla and the Vice President of Mundys and CDA of the Center for American Studies, Giampiero Massolo, the conference will take place in two sessions: the first will focus on the geopolitical role of India as a global player and will be opened by Lorenzo Angeloni, former Ambassador of Italy to India. Speakers will include Amy Kazmin, Rome correspondent for the Financial Times, Srujan Palkar, Global India Fellow, Atlantic Council, Suresh Prabhu, Indian envoy to the G20 and G7. The second session, which will have the theme of economic growth and opportunities for industry, will be introduced by Francesco Maria Talò, Italian Special Envoy for the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC). Shibani Belwalkar, Head Executive Education, SDA Bocconi, and Cristina Morelli, Head of Sovereign Financing, Financial Institutions and Businesses – CDP International Cooperation Directorate will speak.
