France is still in ‘shock’ over the lurid case that occurred on August 4 to a 29-year-old girl, who was brutally raped when she was at home. A man sneaked into her apartment, violently assaulted her, even penetrating her with a broomstick. The events happened in Cherburgoa port city in Normandy and little by little more details of the case have been revealed, which has outraged French society.
The young woman, whose name is unknown, has been in an induced coma ever since and with a difficult prognosis and various serious and unimaginable injuries for which even the professionals who are treating her have had to receive psychological support. And it is that the author of it, Oumar N., was also knocking repeatedly. He, by the way, was arrested six days later after a quick investigation and ended up confessing the facts.
Among the questions that are on the table in this gruesome case is knowing what led him to perpetrate such cruelty on this young man from 18 years. She, from the hospital and still in shock while trying to recover, has acknowledged that she had seen him on some occasion but has assured that she did not know him. Oumar’s criminal past, who is now accused of “rape accompanied by torture or barbaric acts”, helped to arrest him. Who is this young man now detained?
a criminal past
The police managed to find him after finding a trace of him on one of the doors of the young woman’s apartment. Their footprints They were in the police databases and the subsequent geolocation of his mobile at that address corroborated the agents’ hypotheses.
And it is that Oumar’s past has already brought him before the French courts on several occasions and is now a matter of controversy in the French country, since the police knew of his violent character and recidivism. His record makes it clear: when he was a minor he was convicted five times for crimes of property damage and violence. In his background, made public this week through local media, there are up to 17 charges: robberies, sexual assaults or rebellions are among them.
Among them, he has a cause for sexual assault against his sister last year, although the facts have not been proven to date. For this last reason, in fact, the young man had to be examined on his psychiatric condition recently, but he did not show up for the appointment.
Oumar is now preventively imprisoned in a prison in Caen. Sources close to the case have been surprised by how little empathy he showed towards his victim.
