Russian private jet with six people on board crashed in Afghanistan

A Russian private jet carrying six people on board crashed in a mountainous area in northern Afghanistan on Sunday. This is what the Russian aviation authorities say, after earlier reports of a crash in the province of Badakhshan. It concerns a chartered flight that was en route from India to Moscow via Uzbekistan.

It was local residents who informed authorities in Badakhshan about the crash. The facts occurred in a difficult-to-access, mountainous area, about an eight-hour drive from the provincial capital of Faizabad.
