Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan and the US senior adviser on Caucasian negotiations, American co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Luis Bono discussed regional security issues.

According to the press release of the Foreign Ministry, the interlocutors discussed the latest developments in the process of regulating Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including the approaches to the key issues in the draft peace treaty and the efforts towards their agreement. Mirzoyan emphasized the highest level expressed by the two countries in 1991. The importance of adherence to the commitment to mutual recognition of territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, the process of demarcation based on the treaty and the declaration. The agreements reached during the last meetings of the border demarcation and border security commissions between Armenia and Azerbaijan were also emphasized.

The Armenian Foreign Minister and the US official exchanged ideas on the issues of unblocking regional channels. Ararat Mirzoyan presented the latest discussions on the topic and RA’s approaches, which continue to be consistent with the popularized principles of respect for sovereignty and national legislation, equality and reciprocity.

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan also received Luis Bono today.

US Secretary of State Blinken expressed hope today that Yerevan and Baku will manage to reach an agreement on the peace treaty.
