Egyptian President Abd al-Fattah el-Sisi and US President Joe Biden discussed the situation in Gaza during a telephone conversation.
Biden expressed his gratitude to el-Sisi for Egypt’s mediation efforts. The interlocutors came to a consensus that the negotiation process needs to be accelerated and achieve a result that “will put an end to the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip.”
El-Sisi and Biden also agreed to transfer humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom checkpoint until the Rafah checkpoint, closed on the Palestinian side, resumes operation.
