Russia announced the destruction of Ukraine's ATACMS launcher that was about to be fired

The Russian army announced a raid on the HIMARS and M270 Ukrainian complex, in which a battery carrying ATACMS missiles prepared to fire.

“Units of the Dnieper wing destroyed the US-made M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS rocket artillery complexes, along with a 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled gun within the past 24 hours. This force also defeated manpower and equipment of the 23rd National Guard Brigade of Ukraine in Dnipro province,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a battlefield report on June 15.

The type of weapon and location of the raid on the HIMARS and M270 MLRS batteries was not disclosed by the Russian army, but the Dnieper army wing is in charge of the Kherson front and part of Zaporizhzhia province.

On the same day, Russian media published a video from a thermal imaging sensor on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), showing an explosion and a large fire after an attack on a target suspected to be an M270 complex preparing to fire an arrow. Ukraine’s air defense in the early morning of June 14 let in at least three Iskander-M ballistic missiles and one Kinzhal hypersonic projectile in Russia’s coordinated attack.

Flight data of Russian missiles and UAVs published by Ukrainian media shows that Iskander-M missiles launched from the Crimean peninsula targeted the area near the city of Zaporizhzhia, but it is unclear whether they were attacks aimed at HIMARS and M270 MLRS complexes mentioned by the Russian military or not.
