“I still think someone could kill me”, the confession of virologist Anthony Fauci

“I still think, deep down, that someone could kill me. There is this possibility, I wish I didn’t have to think about it but it’s the truth.” This is what he states in an interview with USA Today Anthony Fauci, the Italian-American virologist who was the face of the White House response to the Covid epidemicand for this reason he received dozens of death threats because, he explains, “he became a target for people with extremist positions”.

The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has been targeted by many far-right groups in recent years and in 2022 a West Virginia man was sentenced to over 3 years in prison for the death threats he made against him facing. “One of the many unfortunate aspects of this pandemic is that it occurred at a time of deep divisions in our society,” Fauci said.
