The National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico reported that during the night of this Sunday and the early hours of Monday, a low pressure with the probability of cyclonic development in the Gulf of Mexico will move over the coasts of the state of Tamaulipasnortheast of that country, and will subsequently gradually dissipate.

In a statement, the SMN indicated in its most recent report that the wide circulation of the formation, in interaction with the monsoon trough, extended over the southeast and south of the country and with divergence in height, will cause occasional torrential rains in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz.

In addition to intense occasional rains in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, as well as very heavy occasional rains in Coahuila.

Strong to very strong winds are also expected with the possible formation of waterspouts on the coasts of Tamaulipas and Veracruz (north).

On the other hand, the Meteorological Office of Mexico explained that a low pressure channel that extends over the north, west and center of the Mexican territory, in interaction with divergence in height and the entry of humidity from both coasts, will cause intense occasional rains in Nayarit. , Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Querétaro, Hidalgo and Puebla.

Very heavy occasional rains in Sonora, Guanajuato, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos and Guerrero, heavy occasional rains in Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and Tlaxcala, as well as showers in Baja California and Baja California Sur.

These rains will be accompanied by electric shocks and possible hail. Strong to very strong winds are also forecast in the northwest of the country, the northern table and the central table.

In addition, waves of 1 to 3 meters high are expected on the coasts of Tamaulipas and Veracruz (north). “Heavy to torrential rains could cause flooding, flooding and landslides, as well as an increase in the levels of rivers and streams. Strong to very strong wind gusts could bring down trees and advertisements.”the SMN warned.

He added that the monsoon trough will extend close to the coasts of the Mexican southern Pacific in interaction with a low pressure channel over the Yucatan Peninsula and the approach of a new tropical wave to the south of said peninsula, will cause heavy to very heavy rains in the Yucatan Peninsula. region, in the southeast and south of Mexican territory, with intense occasional rains expected in Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas.

Given these conditions, the SMN urged the population, tourists and maritime navigation to heed its warnings and follow the recommendations of Civil Protection.

Last Friday, the SMN reported a new rain storm, which will occur from June 21 to 25, after the passage of Alberto, the first tropical storm in the Atlantic Ocean.

The passage of Alberto left torrential rains in the northwest, north, northeast, west and southeast of Mexico and its intense rainfall caused the death of four people, three minors and one adult in the state of Nuevo León, northern Mexico.
