Hikmet Hajiyev: “Armen Grigoryan's statements are aimed at self-justification”

“The statements of the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia have the purpose of covering up the guilt of the previous and current military-political leadership of that country, blaming it on others and self-justification,” Hikmet Hajiev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, said today, commenting on the recent statements of the Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan.

“We have to record with pain that such statements are a reflection of the preservation of revanchist illusions in the mentality of the military and political leadership of Armenia,” the Azerbaijani official said.

Commenting on the recent Azerbaijani accusations of violating the ceasefire, the Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said that Armenia is worried about such reports, stressing that there was definitely no action on the Armenian side in the direction of escalation, there were no shots fired.

Armen Grigoryan also announced that it was Russia that took Nagorno Karabakh from the hands of Armenians and handed it over to Azerbaijan. This has caused new tension in Armenian-Russian relations. Moscow responded to Grigoryan’s accusations with insults.
