Berlin – Horror accident in Berlin! While Turkish fans were celebrating the victory over the Czech Republic (2:1) in the Berlin district of Neukölln on Wednesday evening, a man (57) was hit by a car. He died.

According to BILD information, the crash occurred at around 11:20 p.m. A Mercedes-AMG sped down Hermannstrasse, where a pedestrian was also crossing. The pedestrian was hit by the car and thrown 20 meters through the air. The 57-year-old crashed onto the asphalt between parked cars at the side of the road. A witness’s dashcam recorded the moment.

When the pedestrian saw the 585-horsepower car racing towards him, he started running. It was no use. The 57-year-old was hit by the Mercedes, which was driving so fast that it drove under the man while he was flying through the air.

Several witnesses rushed to the pedestrian, who was lying on the asphalt covered in blood, and administered first aid. Firefighters attempted resuscitation, but stopped after about 15 minutes.

Witnesses said that the Mercedes had been seen several times before on Karl-Marx-Straße. It was apparently a so-called poser drive. According to witnesses, Turkish flags were also waved in the car.

Speeder (26) turns himself in

According to BILD information, the driver (26) turned himself in to the relevant police station just 60 minutes after the accident. Up until this point, the perpetrator did not know that the pedestrian had been fatally injured. The driver was taken to a prisoner collection point.

At around 3 a.m. the body was taken away by the coroner, and just a few minutes later the AMG was secured. The vehicle was a rental car.

A specialist department for traffic offenses, an expert and specialists from the State Criminal Police Office are investigating the cause of the accident.

Police officer injured on Kudamm

On too Berlin’s Fans of the Turkish team celebrated on the Kurfürstendamm boulevard in the Charlottenburg district and brought traffic to a standstill. There was cheering and flags were waved. The police said there were around 300 people.

Immediately after the final whistle, fireworks were also set off in Kreuzberg. On Yorckstrasse, cars were still driving around at around midnight, honking loudly, often decorated with Turkish flags and playing loud music.
