60% of Americans want Biden to withdraw his candidacy Survey

According to a Morning Consult survey published on the Axios news site among eligible voters, 60% say that “definitely” or “probably” incumbent President Joe Biden should be replaced as the Democratic Party’s primary candidate following his appearance in the confrontation with Donald Trump on Thursday.

As you may remember, the televised confrontation between the current US president, Joe Biden, and the former president, Donald Trump, was held last night (between Thursday and Friday Israel time) and had a significant impact on the race for the presidency of the United States. The findings of the survey, to which 2,068 people responded, echoed reactions from officials in the Democratic Party regarding the possibility of replacing Biden as the party’s presidential candidate.

Among Democratic voters, 21% say that “definitely not” Biden should be replaced while 20% say “probably not”. When respondents were asked to choose between Biden and former President Trump, 45% chose the president and 44% chose the former president.

The results of this survey were similar to those of a survey conducted after Trump’s criminal conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to the payment of a $130,000 hush fee. However, the majority of respondents – 57% of those who watched the showdown – said Trump outperformed Biden. This includes 19% of Democrats, 60% of those who do not identify with a particular party and 93% of Republicans.

Biden campaign spokesman Seth Shuster criticized the way the poll results were presented, which still show Biden leading Trump by one point, saying “Joe Biden is not retiring.”
