Report: Prince Harry accused of concealing evidence at trial

Getting into trouble again? Half a year ago, the well-publicized trial ended in which Prince Harry sued the British tabloid system MGN on the grounds that they collected information against him in illegal ways and invaded his privacy by hacking into his personal phone. Although the prince won the trial and even received compensation from the system in the amount of 180 thousand dollars – it is possible that the case will be reopened due to suspicion of the disappearance of evidence on Harry’s part.

MGN’s lawyer, Anthony Hudson, told the High Court that Harry had deliberately deleted text messages with someone who helped him write his memoir Spare, which was published in January 2023. To this claim, Harry’s lawyer responded, arguing that the allegations were baseless and that Harry had done more than and beyond to provide the court with the necessary evidence. In response, Hudson claimed that the prince had created an “obstacle course” for the documents sought by the press.

The court ruled that the Duke of Sussex must now disclose the drafts of his book, as well as messages between him and those who helped him write the book, evidence that was destroyed “long after” he filed the lawsuit in 2019. On Thursday, Judge Timothy Pancourt said it was “disturbing” that the documents were deleted after the case was already underway. The judge also added that efforts must now be made to recover the deleted messages. The judge also ordered the royal’s legal team to write to the king’s private secretary and his governor, asking them to hand over all records of communications with Harry.

As you remember, Harry sued MGN (Mirror Group Newspapers) in 2019, and appeared for the publicized trial in June 2023. The prince claimed that for 15 years he had been a target for the newspaper system and that more than 140 articles that appeared in its newspapers were the result of illegal information gathering. The court confirmed in January that the prince was indeed a victim of illegal information gathering and won the trial.
