Anti-Defamation League Files Federal Lawsuit Against Iran, Syria, North Korea

The Anti-Defamation League and the law firm Crowell & Moring LLP have filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of 125 victims of the October 7 massacre in Israel against Iran, Syria and North Korea for providing material support to the terrorist organization Hamas.

The lawsuit seeks to hold state sponsors of the massacre accountable under the Terrorism Clause of the Foreign State Immunities Act.

“There is ample precedent for this case: U.S. courts have repeatedly found Iran, Syria, and North Korea liable for providing material support for terrorist attacks that have harmed U.S. citizens and U.S.-Israeli dual citizens,” said James Pash, ADL’s senior national litigation manager and ADL’s lead counsel on the case. “In a world where denial of the events of October 7th began almost immediately after the attack, this case will restore the truth about the horrors that occurred that day, those responsible for providing material support for this horrific terrorist attack, and will ultimately provide a path to justice, accountability, and reparations.”
