Naim Qassem, deputy secretary general of the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, told the AP news agency that a ceasefire on the Lebanese-Israeli border is impossible until there is a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“If a ceasefire is reached in Gaza, we will cease fire too. Our participation in Israel’s war with Hamas is intended to provide military support to our ally. If the war stops, there will be no need for this support,” he said.

Qasem noted that the intensity of Israeli actions in the Strip has decreased at the moment, but they have not stopped. “If the situation is ‘no war, no peace,’ then I cannot say how we will act – we will need to get a clearer picture of the situation,” he said.

The international community is making significant efforts to prevent a major war between Israel and Hezbollah. Western officials are trying to put pressure on the Lebanese group and the Jewish state.
