‘Security Incident’ at Versailles: Police Storm Palace

A special police unit stormed the Palace of Versailles, near Paris, on July 4. A “security incident” was reported. The museum complex was closed and visitors were evacuated.

Dozens of armed law enforcement officers are on site. A notice issued by the museum’s administration asks the public to follow police instructions and not to spread rumors.

According to unconfirmed reports, a man armed with a knife was seen near the museum. It is possible that this was a conflict between two street vendors. The police emphasize that there is no suspicion of a terrorist attack.
