Putin: “Istanbul agreements can be the basis of Ukrainian settlement even today”

“The agreements developed during the Istanbul negotiations in 2022 can still be the basis of the Ukrainian settlement today,” Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today in Astana, during the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

“Those agreements were not signed anywhere, they were initialed by the Ukrainian delegation and apparently were beneficial to Ukraine. The agreements reached in Istanbul remain on the table and can be the basis for the continuation of negotiations,” Putin said.

The draft of the Istanbul Agreement was first published in its entirety at the beginning of this year. In it, Ukraine undertook to maintain neutrality and not to deploy any foreign military base on its territory.
