Dozens of Terrorist Group Members Sentenced to Long Prison Terms in UAE

The Federal Court of Appeal of the United Arab Emirates has sentenced 53 people to long prison terms for belonging to terrorist groups linked to the radical Muslim Brotherhood movement.

43 people were sentenced to life imprisonment for creating and participating in the activities of the terrorist group “Committee for Justice and Dignity”, which, according to the case materials, was created with the aim of carrying out terrorist attacks in the UAE.

Five defendants were sentenced to 15 years in prison for interacting with the Call for Reform organization, also recognized as terrorist, and publishing articles and posts in support of it on social networks.

Five more people were found guilty of financing terrorist activities and were sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of 10 million dirhams – $2.72 million. Six companies that financed the terror will pay double the fine and be closed.

The case against 24 defendants was dropped, and one more defendant was acquitted.
