The car, driven by Thomas Matthew Crooks, was parked near Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, the people said. Police received multiple reports of suspicious packages in the area where the shooter was, authorities said, leading them to dispatch a bomb technician. Investigators continued to work to make sure the scene was clear late into the night. They also searched Crooks’ home and spoke with his family.

ABC NEWS also reported earlier that the gun found at the Trump campaign rally was legally purchased by the suspect’s father.
