The ranking of the most popular governors and mayors in Italy

The Governance Poll 2024, the historic survey that measures the consensus of regional presidents and mayors organized by Noto Sondaggi for Il Sole 24 Ore, sees two different winners compared to the 2023 edition: the president of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga with a 68% approval rating and the mayor of Parma, Michael Guerra with a 63% approval rating. For the Regions, the podium is completed by Stephen Bonaccini (Emilia-Romagna, 67%), who resigned on Friday and is now an MEP, and Luca Zaia (Veneto, 66%). While as regards mayors, Guerra precedes the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi (62%), and that of Ravenna, Michele de Pascale (61%), who will be the PD candidate to succeed Bonaccini. An all-centre-left podium.

Returning to the regions, the traditional leading trio (Fedriga, Bonaccini, Zaia) who have taken turns at the top of the Governance Poll over the years, are followed by Vincenzo De Luca (Campania) and the president of Calabria, Roberto Occhiuto. Lombardy’s Attilio Fontana consolidates the result obtained on election day and with 55% is in 9th place. The governor of Lazio Francesco Rocca is declining with 47.5% and is in 11th place.

Big news in the ranking of mayors. With Guerra, who last year had placed fourth, Manfredi and de Pascale complete the podiumfollowed by seven mayors in fourth place with 60% approval: Luigi Brugnaro (Venice), Mario Conte (Treviso), Alessandro Canelli (Novara), Mattia Palazzi (Mantua), Matilde Celentano (Latina), Claudio Scajola (Imperia), Giuseppe Cassi’ (Ragusa). The big cities are struggling, except Naples, with Beppe Sala (mayor of Milan) who goes from first to 19th place, Stefano Lo Russo (Turin) who doesn’t go beyond 57th place, while in Rome Roberto Gualtieri ends up in penultimate place together with the mayor of Palermo, Roberto Lagalla.
