Demonstrations in Washington, Tel Aviv as Netanyahu addresses Congress

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Congress, thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters were demonstrating in Washington, D.C., demanding that Congress stop arms sales to Israel.

Streets around the Capitol have been closed off and there is a heavy police presence, with hundreds of New York police officers being deployed to Washington, according to US media reports.

There is also a protest in Washington, involving Israeli citizens. Their slogan is: “Save Israel from Netanyahu.”

In Tel Aviv, hundreds of protesters are outside the US embassy and in the Abductees’ Square in front of the Tel Aviv Museum. They are demanding an expedited agreement with Hamas to return the abductees.

A performance was staged near the US embassy: the Statue of Liberty in rivers of blood. A girl, depicting one of the most famous symbols of America, holding a torch above herself, stood in the red liquid.
