Man Attempts to Set Himself on Fire on Red Square in Moscow

A 74-year-old man attempted to set himself on fire in Moscow on Red Square near Lenin’s Mausoleum, but police quickly put out the fire and saved the man who attempted suicide, the BBC reports. The Telegram channels Mash and Baza named the man as Vladimir Arsenyev.

According to Telegram channels, the man doused himself with flammable liquid and set himself on fire. The police officers on duty at the square were able to quickly put out the flames, knocking the man to the ground. He received minor burns and was questioned after the incident.

The man who tried to set himself on fire turned out to be the president of the Central Research Institute “Volna” Vladimir Arsenyev, Telegram channels claim.

Vladimir Arsenyev from the Volna Central Research Institute has been involved in numerous arbitration and civil cases in Moscow courts over the past year. His opponent was one of the major shareholders of the same enterprise, former chief designer and chairman of the board of directors of Volna, Sergei Mosienko (he owned 32% of the shares in 2023).
