US police search for intruder at Trump campaign office

Virginia police are searching for Toby Shane Kessler, after confirming he was the man who broke into Donald Trump’s campaign office.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LSCO), Virginia, issued a statement on August 14 saying that suspect Toby Shane Kessler, 39, was the person who broke into former President Donald Trump’s campaign office in Ashburn, Virginia, last weekend.

“The break-in occurred at approximately 8 p.m. and was captured on surveillance cameras inside the office. LSCO’s investigation determined that Kessler entered through the back door. He did not appear to leave anything in the office, and it is unclear if he took anything with him when he left. The investigation is ongoing,” LCSO said in a statement.

Loudoun County police said they are working with other law enforcement agencies to search for Kessler and are asking for the public’s assistance.

“The suspect is a white male. At the time of the break-in, he was wearing colored baggy pants, a hat and a backpack,” police added. “The suspect has a criminal record and possesses a California driver’s license.”

The Trump campaign said last week that it had suffered a data breach, including documents on Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate. The campaign blamed Iranian hackers for the breach.

Iran has denied any involvement in the U.S. presidential election or attempted to interfere in it. The U.S. government has not confirmed the accusations against Iran, but has warned that Tehran will face consequences if it interferes in the U.S. election.
