What the black boxes of the crashed plane in which 62 passengers died revealed

Less than a week after the tragic flight that caused the death of 62 people in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, part of the incident became known. the information contained in the two black boxes of the Voepass ATR 72-50 aircraft following the extraction of information carried out by the Brazilian Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (Cenipa).

The aircraft, of Franco-Italian manufacture, had a voice recorder in the cockpit and a data recorder. It was thus learned that one minute before the accident, The co-pilot indicated that it was necessary to “give power” to the vehicle due to loss of altitude. The two hours of footage collected ended with screams from passengers and the rumble of the impact with the ground.

While the Brazilian media O’Globo recently released what happened on the flight, for the moment the audios have not been released.

This Wednesday also the work team of the Legal Medical Institute of San Pablo identified 56 of the 62 bodies of the victims,However, experts have not yet specified when the information will be completed to determine who the remaining six passengers are. They said further scientific investigations will be needed, such as DNA analysis to compare them with that of their relatives.

According to the IML, 37 bodies have been identified so far by fingerprints, 15 by dental X-rays and 4 by both methods after the work of more than 40 doctors, forensic dentistry, anthropology and radiology teams involved in the operation.

According to an official report circulated after the tragedy, the plane experienced “air conditioning problems, hydraulic system failures and abnormal contact with the runway.”

The aircraft that crashed was a twin-engine ATR-72-500 model and was flying between the city of Cascavel and São Paulo. The tragedy occurred when it was 80 kilometers from reaching its destination. Most of the victims were from Paraná, Brazil. There were also three Venezuelans and a woman with Portuguese citizenship.

Despite landing in a residential area, the vehicle crashed into the backyards of a residential complex without damaging any buildings or leaving any victims on the ground.
